Every name, its capacity and its evidence
188 institutions are named in connection with the Canton Network. Each one appears with the capacity it acts in, the date on the evidence and a link to that evidence. A grade from A to D records where the evidence came from. Two words do most of the work, and they are defined before the table: super validator, and validator.
The vocabulary
Eleven capacities, and what each one means
A synchronizer is the component that orders and confirms transactions without seeing what is in them. The Global Synchronizer is the one decentralised synchronizer, and it is what the Canton Foundation governs. A firm can also run its own private synchronizer, which publishes nothing.
A validator operates a participant node, the private computing and storage unit an organisation runs on the network. A super validator operates one of the nodes that run the Global Synchronizer itself, votes on changes to it, and earns a share of the coins issued each round. Daml is the smart-contract language the applications are written in.

The count
Thirteen nodes, and about sixty organisations paid by them
Four published counts of super validators are in circulation. The Global Synchronizer’s own governance snapshot lists 13 node identities held by 11 organisations, with a voting threshold of 9. The Canton Foundation’s dashboard, whose data is credited on the page to The Tie, shows 58 super validator nodes. The Canton ecosystem directory tags 56 organisations as super validators. Visa’s own release of 25 March 2026 says Visa will be one of 40 super validators on Canton.
The Canton Foundation publishes a configuration that shows how a name can be a super validator without running a node. Its MainNet file lists the same 13 approved identities, each with a reward weight and a list of extra beneficiaries. Across the file, 75 parties receive super validator reward weight through those 13 nodes. Both counts are reported with the definition attached.
Weight totals 3,722,500 across 60 beneficiary organisations. Of that, 1,541,950, or 41.42%, is escrowed: the configuration assigns it to a ghost party until the named organisation meets the milestones its Canton Improvement Proposal sets. 14 organisations hold weight that is entirely escrowed, including USDT0, DTCC, Mesh, Nasdaq, YZi Labs, Visa.

Against a community dashboard
Forty-four financial institutions, twenty-three with a Canton document
cctools.network is a community dashboard. The Canton Foundation does not run it. On 14 September 2026 cctools tagged 44 organisations as financial institutions among the 500 projects it maps. Matching each of those names against the roster gives 23 at grade A or B, 20 at grade C or D, and 1 with no Canton source of any grade.
The 20 at grade C or D are names for which the only evidence found was a directory entry, a membership list or a news report: Citi, Lloyds Banking Group, AXA IM, Shell Energy North America, Castleton Commodities International, European Investment Bank, Luxembourg Stock Exchange, Prometheus, Union Investment, Galaxy, Bank of China, Wells Fargo, Koch Energy Services, HKEX, Credit Agricole, Fidelity, UBS, Mercuria Energy, Sygnum Bank, Banco Santander. The one with no source at all is Mana Group, which is absent from the ecosystem directory, from the Canton Foundation lists and from the approved super validator configuration.
