Last of sixteen on mentions and on watchlist adds per dollar

Eight measures of publicly observable attention were taken on 14 and 15 September 2026. The basket is 16 assets: Canton Coin, its rank neighbours, and the networks that pitch themselves at institutions. Four measures put Canton Coin last or second last. Two point the other way. Every measure has limits, and they are listed at the foot of the page.

The method

Sixteen assets, five free sources, one day of social data

Canton Coin’s market-cap rank was resolved first, then its rank neighbourhood was pulled in one call. Sixteen assets were selected. Canton Coin is the subject, with Ethereum as a scale anchor and Provenance as the closest structural peer. The other thirteen are ten networks that position themselves for institutions and tokenized assets, and three rank neighbours. Stablecoins and tokenized funds in the rank neighbourhood were excluded, which raises the basket median and makes Canton Coin’s position look worse rather than better.

Social figures come from LunarCrush’s free public coin pages, read as served. Market and watchlist figures come from CoinGecko’s free API. Repository figures come from the GitHub REST API, counting commits on the default branch since 14 August 2026. Pageviews come from the Wikimedia API for the 90 days to 13 September 2026, with the bot filter on. The Google Trends series was read once in a browser, and no paid service was used.

The five endpoints are listed at the foot of the page with the date each was read, so any reading can be re-taken.

Canton Coin records 78 posts in 24 hours, the fewest in a basket whose median is 640

One dot per asset. Market capitalisation across, posts mentioning the asset in the trailing 24 hours up. Both axes are logarithmic and gridded at each power of ten.

The basket

Four ratios, four ranks

Each ratio divides an attention count by a size measure, so a small asset is not penalised for being small. The rank column is the asset’s place out of 16 on that ratio, 1 being the highest. Absolute counts appear beside the ratios, because the two say different things.

Canton Coin places 16 of 16 on mentions per $1B of market capitalisation, at 20.4 against a basket median of 237.3. It places 16 of 16 on watchlist users per $1M, at 6.2 against a median of 82.9. On turnover it places 15 of 16 at 0.00216, and on engagements per $1B it places 16 of 16. It is last on absolute mentions with 78 posts, below Gram, formerly Toncoin, at 108 and Provenance at 176. Provenance is a ninth of its size.

hyperledger-labs/splice is the open-source code the 13 super validator nodes run. It recorded 229 commits in the window, more than sei-protocol/sei-chain at 171, MystenLabs/sui at 168 and hashgraph/hedera-services at 158. It holds 115 stars against MystenLabs/sui at 7,747. Every Canton repository was pushed to within four days of the reading. The four Canton repositories hold 1,214 stars between them, fewer than algorand/go-algorand alone at 1,436.

TermAverage indexLast week read
Canton Network10
Hedera84
Sei network00

The index runs 0 to 100, where 100 is the peak week of the highest term in the set. Canton Network averages 1 and Hedera 8 across 53 weeks. Canton Network and Sei network both stay at the noise floor, so the only comparison with information in it is Canton Network against Hedera. Sui was discarded: its rising related queries are Italian and unrelated to the network.

Reddit answered HTTP 403 to both the search endpoint and the subreddit endpoint, so the existence and subscriber count of r/CantonNetwork are unverified. x.com answered HTTP 402 to an unauthenticated fetch and socialblade answered 403. Follower counts were not collected for any asset in the basket. The trade press was counted on one outlet, Ledger Insights, whose tag archive shows at least 8 articles across at least 2 pages and publishes no total.

Limits

What each measure does not reach

  • 01Follower counts were not collected

x.com answered HTTP 402 to an unauthenticated fetch, socialblade answered 403, and CoinGecko's community data is null on the free tier. A follower count would measure accumulated audience rather than current conversation in any case.

  • 02The social snapshot is one day

The LunarCrush figures are a single trailing 24-hour reading taken on 14 September 2026. Social volume moves by an order of magnitude on one listing or one headline, so these ratios should be re-run across several days before being quoted as stable.

  • 03Mentions count posts rather than people

Seventy-eight posts could be 78 accounts or three accounts and a scheduler. LunarCrush's sample of X, Reddit, YouTube and TikTok is proprietary, and its post-to-asset matching is keyword-based.

  • 04The word Canton is ambiguous

Canton is a city in China, a town in Ohio and a Swiss administrative division, and the ticker CC is generic. Loose matching would inflate the count and strict ticker matching would deflate it. Neither direction is known.

  • 05Listing age is the largest uncontrolled confound

Canton Coin reached public exchanges in November 2025, later than every comparator in the basket. Watchlist adds are cumulative and never decay, so a low count is partly a measure of how long the asset has been purchasable.

  • 06Fully diluted valuation is not comparable across the basket

Canton Coin's circulating supply equals its total supply, so its FDV equals its market capitalisation. SUI's FDV is 2.4 times its market capitalisation and ONDO's 2.1 times. Every headline ratio in the table uses market capitalisation for that reason.

  • 07Watchlist users measure one retail audience

The figure counts adds on one price-tracking site. Institutions do not keep CoinGecko watchlists, so the measure says nothing about institutional interest in either direction.

  • 08Per-market-cap ratios penalise large assets

Ethereum ranks 15th of 16 on watchlist users per $1M of market capitalisation while holding more watchers than anything else in the basket. The absolute column and the ratio column have to be read together.

  • 09Stars and commits measure different things

A star is a developer bookmarking a repository. A commit is work recorded. The two disagree across these repositories and are drawn on separate scales rather than blended.

  • 10Commit counts are sensitive to merge convention

These are raw commits on the default branch since 14 August 2026. A project that squash-merges reports far fewer commits than one that does not, for identical work.

  • 11Canton's code is partly closed

digital-asset/canton is only part of the implementation and Digital Asset's enterprise product is not public, so public repository activity understates total engineering effort by an unknown amount, and understates it specifically for Canton.

  • 12Wikipedia pageviews are confounded by article age

The Canton Network article was created on 6 February 2025. The Sui article was created on 12 June 2026, three days before this window opens, so its 198 views measure a new stub.

  • 13A missing article is weak evidence

No article exists for Canton Coin or for Ondo Finance. Wikipedia's notability rules, sourcing requirements and editor supply decide whether an article exists.

  • 14Redirects can move a Wikipedia figure by a factor of sixteen

Hedera_Hashgraph is a redirect and returns 152 views. The canonical title Hedera_(distributed_ledger) returns 2,480, and that is the figure used.

  • 15Reddit returned 403 to every query

Both the search endpoint and the subreddit endpoint refused an unauthenticated fetch. The existence and subscriber count of r/CantonNetwork are unverified. That is a gap in the dataset rather than a reading of zero.

  • 16Trade-press counts are floors

The Ledger Insights tag archive paginates without publishing a total and its API answered 403. At least 8 tagged articles across at least 2 pages is what the evidence supports. CoinDesk and The Block render their search on the client and were not counted.

  • 17The paid services were not bought

Kaito, Santiment and LunarCrush's historical time series are paid products. Only LunarCrush's free public pages were used, so no multi-day social series was collected.

  • 18Comparable institution counts were not collected

Ecosystem pages count members on incompatible definitions, and every one is self-reported by each network. A ratio built on those denominators would look more rigorous than it is.

  • 19Google Trends is one read of an index rather than a count

The series is a weekly index where 100 is the peak week of the highest term in the set, read once on 15 September 2026. Canton Network and Sei network both stay at the noise floor of 0 to 2, so their ratio says nothing. Sui was discarded because its related queries are Italian and unrelated.

  • 20Every measure is public, retail-facing and English

Private channels, closed working groups, regulatory filings, conference attendance, vendor pipelines and non-English coverage fall outside all eight measures and would not register regardless of volume.
