A $2.59 share priced at $187

AMC Entertainment closed on Friday at $2.59. By Sunday evening its token on Robinhood Chain had reached $187.21. The company had not announced anything. What changed was that a memecoin called ABSOLUTE CINEMA bought most of the tokenized supply, and no one could issue more until Monday.

For the two weeks before this weekend the token tracked the share within a few percent. It traded at 1.01 times the real price on Wednesday 26 August and 1.02 times on Friday evening. The break was not a slow drift that finally snapped. It began in one hour.

At 18:00 UTC on Sunday the token opened the hour at $22.37 and closed it at $24.47. The hour before, it had been under $3. In the hour to 19:00 UTC it reached $187.21, then gave most of it back before the hour was out.

The arithmetic

The whole float cost about $44,500

AMC · tokenized share of the company

0.0019%

17,167.045 tokens exist on Robinhood Chain. At the Friday close of $2.59 they are worth $44k, against a listed company worth of $2.31B.

Where AMC’s liquidity is parked now

77%

of AMC’s $1,805,234 of on-chain liquidity is in memecoin pools, against $198,059 in the USDG market across 83 pools. Over the weekend the dollar side was thinner still, under 3% of the total, which is why nothing could push the price back.

One trader put the position on X at 20:04 UTC while it was happening, writing that only about $40,000 of a $2.5 billion company had been tokenized. Measured from the chain, the figure is 17,167.045 tokens, worth $44,462 at the Friday close, so that post was within a few thousand dollars.

The counter-argument, as it was put at the time

Not everyone treated the gap as a mispricing. One account posting on 30 August argued that a token paired with a stock has no correlation with that stock and that the comparison was misplaced. On that reading the pool price is the price of a memecoin position, and the share price is not the thing it is quoting. Traders on the other side expected the two to converge at the open, which is what the market maker who re-pegged MSTR that night was paid for. Both readings were held by people trading it, and the figures on this page are the same either way.

The counterparties

What AMC was trading against

Every token below is paired directly against tokenized AMC, so buying any of them requires buying the stock token first. ABSOLUTE CINEMA did 930 dollars of volume in the day measured, more than the rest of the list together.

What happened next

The supply rose sevenfold once the market opened

Supply read from the chain at block 50,697,750 was 17,167.045 tokens. The figure reported by GeckoTerminal at the same moment was 17,167.045. The two sources agreed to the thousandth of a token, which means nothing was created or destroyed while the price moved 72 times.

A market maker did act on a different stock that night. One minted new MSTR to bring its token back to the share price and made about $50,000 doing it, according to the trader who first flagged the AMC gap. No one did the same for AMC. Six and a half hours before the opening bell, the token was still at 0.97 times the share.

Then the market opened. By the evening of 31 August the tokenized supply read 127,206.905, against 17,167.045 before the bell. That is 110,039.860 new tokens, a little over seven times the float that had existed all weekend. The premium closed with it: the token had been above four times the share price that morning and was trading at roughly parity by the close.

The two readings are the endpoints, not the path. The public node keeps no archive, so the hour the tokens were issued cannot be recovered from state; reconstructing it means reading transfer events from the zero address over that window. What the endpoints establish is that the supply moved during the session and not before it.

HIMS spent the same weekend cornered by a larger memecoin and ended it at parity without waiting for Monday. The difference between the two timelines is the subject of the next page.

The number, now

Whether that supply moved off 17,167.045 was the direct test of everything above, and it moved. The table reads the current figure from the chain rather than repeating one, against the pre-open baseline. Everything else on the page was measured before the bell on Monday 31 August and is labelled with the hour it was taken.
